The Missouri Literary Festival, A Celebration of Arts, Literature and Literacy, will be held Oct. 2, 3 and 4, 2009. The festival celebrates the written word in all its wondrous variety through author readings, presentations and workshops for all ages and interests, a slam poetry competition, live music, theatrical performances and film. Admission is $5 for adults and free to children 10 and under. The event is designed as a fundraiser for the Springfield Regional Arts Council and will benefit local writing and literacy programs including Writers Hall of Fame, Ozarks Literacy Council, Springfield Public Schools Title I Program and Family Literacy Centers of the Ozarks. The Missouri Literary Festival is a project of Missouri Literary Festival Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
